Cedar Hill landscaping business looks to grow
TurfOne Landscape Management in Cedar Hill made it through its busiest time of year during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the family-owned business looks to continue to thrive.
“The future looks bright for us,” said Cecelie Williams, who owns the business, 8110 S. Industrial Drive, with her husband, Rich.
“We look to become a better and stronger company for our employees and customers.”
When the pandemic started in mid-March, Williams said the landscaping business was facing an uncertain future.
TurfOne has provided nearly all manner of lawn services as well as holiday lighting and snow removal since 2008.
Because of the virus, she said the company lost one of its biggest commercial accounts and some other customers. However, as it turned out, its client list grew as the year progressed.
“We didn’t know what to expect,” Williams said. “We just knew we had to do everything we could to withstand anything that was thrown our way.”
Williams said she secured a Paycheck Protection Program loan to cover operating costs, provided personal protection equipment to employees, added three trucks to its eight-truck fleet, allowing employees to social distance while traveling, and worked with customers to make every interaction as safe as possible.
“It is an important time in our business and the economy, and we needed to do everything we could to survive,” Williams said.
The business also got a boost as people started requesting landscaping services because they were staying home and wanted their yards to look their best, Williams said.
And, she said, most of the clients remained loyal.
“We wouldn’t be here without our customers,” Williams said. “We are appreciative and thankful that they have allowed us to service their lawns for so many years.”
