Play day for pets: Playful Paws ‘fur parents’ coming back
After the COVID-19 pandemic’s months-long impact, Playful Paws Daycare and Boarding in Arnold is returning to its normal level of business, said owner Melanie Pieper.
“We’ve started to get a lot of our regular customers back,” Pieper said. “We’ve also increased business by getting new customers through word of mouth because of regular customers’ recommendations.”
The business, at 2160 Tenbrook Road, offers boarding for a variety of pets, as well as daycare services for dogs.
The company’s pet-centered motto is, “Come and play for the day or vacation with us while your parents are away.”
She said “fur parents” started coming back when they found themselves working from home and could not devote adequate attention to their pets.
“A lot of people didn’t realize how difficult it is to work from home while there with their pets,” she said. “Also, a lot of schools are doing the virtual learning. One mom told me she was not only working from home, but she was also doing more homework with her child, so it was a help to be able to take her pet to daycare. She said it allowed her to focus on her work and with helping her child with school by taking her pet to daycare.”
Pieper said Playful Paws continues to provide a safe environment for pets and pet owners alike during the pandemic.
“We are continuing to do our extended cleaning measures,” she said. “We are still offering the curbside service for those not comfortable with coming into the building.”
She said Playful Paws (website: myplayfulpaws.net) is getting the support it needs to get through the pandemic.
“With the help of our fur parents, we will survive,” she said.
