Fun on wheels: Patriot Trolley gearing up for year-end activities

The Patriot Trolley is polished up and ready to go for Veterans Day and the holiday season to come.

The 30-passenger, modified coach bus is available for hire for everything from bachelor/bachelorette parties and wine tours to family reunions and corporate events.

Co-owner Russ Hasty said the De Soto-based company focuses on providing safe fun for those who wish to make alcohol part of their holiday celebrating.

“We’re giving them a choice to be safe, to think about others, while having fun,” he said.

Giving back to the community is an important part of the Patriot Trolley business philosophy.

Hasty and his brother, co-owner Ron Hasty, have been working with veterans groups like the VFW to organize free monthly trips for veterans to visit the National Veterans Memorial in Perryville.

“We are also planning to be part of a Nov. 1 charity event for the Detters,” he said, referring to the family that lost four members in a house fire earlier this month.

The brothers are making space on the exterior of the bus for advertisers to take advantage of its “rolling billboard.”

“It’s a way to keep costs down, having sponsors who buy ads,” Russ said. “That could give us the opportunity to do some of the community things we do, like our work with the Superheroes group out of Bonne Terre. We donated several private party trips, that kind of thing.

“We want to do as many of these charity events as possible.”

The company is careful to observe COVID-19 safety protocols such as mask use, social distancing and hand hygiene.

“We have plenty of hand sanitizer on board,” Ron said.
