Pull the trigger: Clark Floor wants to help you tackle that upgrade
When the coronavirus pandemic took off in the spring, Clark Floor went through a brief downtime.
“It was a little slow; we had to lay off a couple of installers and some part-time sales staff,” said Jackie Clark, who runs the family-owned business with her husband, Jim. “Once things picked up, we were able to bring back everybody but one apprentice, but that’s because he went on to a different opportunity.”
Clark Floor, 7525 S. Lindbergh Blvd., in south St. Louis County, has been in business since 1979. It offers a wide range of flooring products, including carpet, sheet vinyl, ceramic/marble, laminates and hardwood, along with full-service installation and hardwood refinishing.
“We can get just about anything,” Clark said. “We do business as far away as Lake of the Ozarks.”
She said the pandemic has brought about an increase in people wanting to upgrade flooring in their homes.
“People have their offices at home and they’re spending a lot of time there,” she said. “It makes sense that they want to fix things up, they want a little nicer environment – and we’re glad to help them with that.”
With several full-time installers on staff, the company is ramping up for a banner winter, something fairly unusual in the industry.
“We usually slow down between Christmas and the end of February,” Clark said. “But we may not do that this year. We may be fortunate enough to work straight on through (the winter) because of everything that’s happened.”
Clark Floor is a member of the Floorlayers Local 1310 and the Flooring Industry Council.
