Wildwood kickboxing gym offers safe fitness setting
Corey McEnaney wants people to know it is safe to come to his gyms.
McEnaney purchased four 9Round StL locations on Sept. 1, and he said the kickboxing-based fitness routine offered at the gyms lines up with the precautions recommended to stem the spread of COVID-19.
“The stations are set up nicely to ensure social distancing and cleanliness,” said McEnaney, who owns 9Round StL gyms at 17185 New College Ave. in Wildwood; 12536 Olive Blvd., Suite G, in Creve Coeur; 11752 Manchester Road in Des Peres; and 3026 Winghaven Blvd. in O’Fallon.
The 9Round workout system has clients go through nine stations during a 30-minute period doing kickboxing-themed exercises.
McEnaney said the stations allow for social distancing.
“We keep one station between each member empty,” he said. “That keeps 12 feet between members, and the stations can be cleaned after every use.”
McEnaney said the biggest change for the gyms was switching from a walk-in system to having members schedule workouts online.
“The schedule online ensures there are only a certain number of members inside at one time,” he said.
9Round also has created prerecorded workouts people may do online at home, and the company also offers live online workouts through the Zoom videoconferencing app.
McEnaney said he has 16 employees.
“For us and our members, we feel safe,” he said.
McEnaney is offering a special new membership plan – a promotion that started Monday and runs through Nov. 2. The plan allows new members to sign up for a month-to-month plan at the 12-month rate of $99 per month. Members have access to all four of the gym locations and the online workout offerings.
