Jack Prince, De Soto SMCI
The 2024 Hillsboro graduate pitched a complete-game shutout for a 1-0 victory over visiting Festus Post 253 in a District 13 American Legion game June 26. Prince scattered seven hits, didn’t allow a walk and struck out two as De Soto improved to 4-3 in the district and 11-5-2 overall. For the season, Prince has pitched 18 2/3 innings with an earned run average of 4.12. This spring, Prince played baseball for the Hawks and finished fourth in the Jefferson County Activities Association golf tournament.
Brett Barnett, Eureka Post 177
After graduating this spring from Northwest, where he played for the Lions, Barnett joined Eureka and plays second base and designated hitter. He’s batting .364 with an on-base percentage of .562, boosted by drawing 11 walks and being hit by four pitches. In an 11-6 District 10 win over Maryland Heights Post 213 June 24, Barnett was two-for-four with a double and scored two runs. Post 177 is 9-6 and has won four consecutive games.
