Andrea Doyen-Patterson of Mueller Furniture in De Soto can’t understand why people look to the north when they’re considering buying furniture.
“We carry every brand, and often cheaper than anyone around us,” she said. “There’s no need to go to St. Louis; you’re going to pay more. We’ll always beat anybody’s store price.”
Doyen-Patterson is the manager of the store at 324 S. Main, which has been in business since 1927 as Mueller Electric Inc.
“Muellers are no longer here, and there’s no more electric, but we kept the name because of the history in the community,” she said.
Doyen-Patterson said the store carries a wide variety of brands at price points to satisfy nearly every budget.
“You can’t expect everyone to come in and buy a $2,000 sofa,” she said. “We carry high-end stuff, but we also have inventory in a variety of price ranges.”
The store stocks furniture for home and office from Bassett, Barcalounger and Lazy Boy, as well as the Justice brand, made in Lebanon, Mo.
“We sell off the floor, but we special order, too,” Doyen-Patterson said. “There are hundreds of options in fabric and frames, so you’ll have a custom piece for your home.”
The store offers other perks as well.
“We have professional delivery for free within 20-30 miles,” she said. “Free set up, free haul away of the old stuff. A lot of places don’t do that anymore.”
She also spoke of the store’s service department.
“We rarely have to do anything, really, because the brands we carry are so reliable,” she said. “But if you do have a service need, we do our own and we are very responsive.”
