If you are looking to buy a home in the De Soto area that requires little maintenance, one is left at the Villas at West Ridge in De Soto, developer Jim McCullough said.
He said construction began in 2019 on his 60-villa project located just minutes from downtown De Soto and Hwy. 21.
“I talked to different builders, and everyone kind of thought that De Soto needed (a villa development),” he said. “This is the biggest development De Soto has ever had in one place. I did some villas in Festus before this, and I knew there was a demand for it.”
Six years later, 59 of the 60 villa units are sold or under contract, McCullough said.
“We have a lot of people here in their 60s, 70s and even 80s, but we also have people in here in their 30s, 40s, 50s,” he said. “ It’s pretty diverse.”
McCullough said there are many perks that come with owning a villa.
“Insurance and everything (like lawn care and sprinkler setups) are handled through the (homeowners association),” he said. “If you need mulch or power-washed, it’s all set up in the HOA. So, you basically have zero maintenance. That’s why people live in them.”
McCullough said many owners have pets, and the complex includes a fenced-in area for dogs.
The last listing, 1553 Hickory Landing, is a two-bedroom/two-bathroom home.
