It’s time to think about outside lighting for the holidays – all the holidays.
TurfOne takes some of the worry out of the holidays
TurfOne Landscape Management of Cedar Hill concerns itself with green for most of the year, but come the last quarter, red is added to the mix. Or purple, or white, or any color.
Cecelie Williams, who founded the firm in 2008 with her husband, Rich, said a growing sideline is installing Christmas lights on homes.
“We install, we maintain, we take them down and we store them,” she said.
Williams said TurfOne got into the Christmas lighting business in 2016.
“There are only a few companies in the area that offer it,” she said.
“We’ve found a demand. Especially with new home construction, where the homes are getting taller rather than wider, people don’t want to get up on a roof and hang lights. It’s both a time and safety issue. We’re able to get Dad off a tall ladder.”
Williams said a staff member will visit with a homeowner and discuss what’s desired.
“We custom-cut our own lights to fit the home,” she said.
“They can be any color. We use commercial grade, C-9 LED lights, so they’re energy-efficient. We have guys who drive around and check our houses to make sure all the lights are lit. If one’s out, we replace it.”
And not just Christmas lights.
“We’ll install Halloween lights and come back and replace them for Christmas. We do all blue lights for police, pink and white for Valentine’s Day. In September, some houses do gold for Childhood Cancer Month or all pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
Williams said the company’s services are often provided through a gift.
“We’ll have people who want to pay to have their grandparents’ house decorated, to keep up a family tradition,” she said.
TurfOne also provides custom-made garage wreaths and other greenery.
