Michelle Hohmeier wants people to feel at ease as they peruse the items she sells at Tree of Life Art Gallery, Fine Antiques, Artfully Restored Furniture shop at 109 E. Main St. in Festus.
“When you visit Tree of Life, it feels like coming home,” said Hohmeier, the owner of the business. “You’ll find unique gifts and carefully curated pieces that bring warmth and character to your space. Many are handcrafted by local artisans and our renewed furniture – transformed with love in our basement studio – add a special, one-of-a-kind touch to every home.”
Hohmeier opened the shop in November 2019.
“At Tree of Life, we love giving new life to old treasures,” she said. “From lovingly refinished furniture to handmade goods, vintage finds and creations by local artisans, we help you fill your home with pieces of character, charm and heart.”
She said she particularly takes pride in her furniture restorations.
“We have a deep love for giving quality older furniture a new life,” Hohmeier said. “Whether it’s a family heirloom full of memories or a piece that’s simply outdated, we carefully restore and refinish each item, blending its original charm with today’s styles. The result is furniture that honors the past while fitting beautifully into modern homes, creating pieces that are both timeless and uniquely yours.”
She said Tree of Life’s merchandise meets trends in home decoration.
“We’re seeing a shift toward warm, collected homes that feel lived-in and personal rather than perfect,” she said. “Customers are mixing vintage finds with handmade pieces, gravitating toward natural textures like wood and woven materials. There’s a strong focus on purposeful buying, supporting local makers, and choosing meaningful pieces that reflect personal stories, not passing trends."
