TotalHome partnership takes competition out of buying a home

Justin Schoemehl said that he and his partner, Josh Schnur, take the competition out of home buying with their TotalHome real estate company, which is based in St. Louis.

In a market where sellers are regularly getting their asking price or better, what TotalHome has to offer should appeal to many seeking to buy a house, Schoemehl said.

TotalHome assists both in selling and buying, he said.

“We’re in our second year,” said Schoemehl, 31, of St. Louis.

“I’m a licensed real estate agent and my partner, Josh Schnur, is a licensed contractor. We purchase homes to remodel. We pretty much give cash offers to sellers and go in to renovate them.”

Schnur, 32, also lives in St. Louis.

Schoemehl said while any client can benefit by using TotalHome, first-time purchasers may particularly like what the company has to offer.

“A lot of your first-time home buyers may use FHA (Federal Housing Administration-insured loans) and don’t go a traditional route,” he said. “We step in and, basically, purchase the home for cash. We’re able to get the home fixed up for our clients exactly as they want and they don’t ever have to get into the market. You don’t have to go into the competition.”

He said the way TotalHome does business speeds up transactions.

“It’s about a three-month process between the time we buy a house, remodel it and sell it to them,” Schoemehl said.

He said the real estate business has remained active for his company.

“Business is good,” Schoemehl said.
