First-time home buyers and sellers might be tempted to do it themselves, but Kim Anderson of Heartland Realty advises that real estate agents bring too many benefits to the transaction.
First, she said, individuals do not have the marketing tools that real estate companies employ.
“We advertise in multiple outlets,” she said, and agents can match clients who want to buy or sell.
Buyers and sellers also don’t have to worry about how to do paperwork.
“We have the contracts,” she said.
Buyers and sellers won’t have the hassle of negotiating over the property, communicating with a title company or stumbling through loan approval terminology. Agents guide clients through the process, offering sound advice along the way, she said.
“I get to do all the hard work for you. I will take care of the emails. I will work with the other agent. You just tell me ‘yes’ or ‘no.’”
Anderson, who has been a real estate agent for four years, formerly ran a remodeling business and managed rental properties and storage units. She was buying and selling a few houses a year.
She decided to become a real estate agent to help people.
She said it is fun to work with first-time buyers as they figure out what kind of house they want and where to buy.
“It’s very rewarding,” she said.
Anderson said her office has the experience to keep the guesswork out of buying and selling. Her office is based in De Soto, but she said she has worked with buyers in Jefferson, St. Francois, Washington, St. Charles, St. Louis and Ste. Genevieve counties.
Anderson and Gary, her husband of 37 years, of De Soto have two children and two grandchildren.
