Under one roof: Realtor/broker Shanks opens one-stop real estate shop
When Bobby Shanks opened his real estate brokerage in January, he brought several businesses together under one roof, hoping to make transactions easier for those buying or selling homes.
Shanks, a realtor/broker, owns and operates Shanks Realty Group, 2855 Seckman Road, in Imperial.
“It’s an interesting model,” he said. “Everyone who works with me is an independent business owner. I have a lender, a mover, an insurance company, an inspection company – all the services people need when buying real estate – all in one place.”
Shanks says he serves clients throughout the St. Louis area, but focuses on Jefferson County, especially northern Jefferson County.
Shanks, of Imperial, has been a realtor/broker for 15 years, and after working many years for “big box brokerages,” decided to open his own business.
“You get to a certain size as an individual agent and realize you’ve outgrown what an individual brokerage can do for you. You become your own entity, your own brand,” he said.
Shanks said he strives to get to know his clients so he can get them the home or the sale they’re seeking.
“I got into real estate because I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoy helping people with their homes,” he said. “If you buy or sell your home with me, I’ll remember your birthday, your dog’s name. I’ve had people call me a decade later about selling their house they bought through me, and I’ll ask them, ‘Hey, did you ever get rid of that green wallpaper?’”
That personalized approach leads to lots of referrals, he said.
“Every time I have a client closing, I do a video with the client, and I use those video client testimonials on social media. They’re a very significant part of my marketing.”
