Farm and Homestead Equipment’s first fall in business promises to be a busy one.

The family-owned business, which opened in March at 121 Osage Executive Circle in House Springs, is running a seasonal service special for those who own tractors and lawnmowers.

“If you bring your tractor or lawnmower in for service, we’ll be able to fix it up for next year at a discount,” owner Dwayne Helton said. “We can do that because the cost for our parts isn’t as much during the off-season, and our sales of lawnmowers isn’t as big as during the spring and summer.”

He said those looking to clear some brush or tree limbs from their property might want to consider investing in an Efco chainsaw.

“They’re made in Italy and carry a five-year warranty. That’s almost unheard of anymore,” he said. “And in addition to sales, we do service on all brands of chainsaws.”

As the weather turns colder another expected seller is the line of “high quality greenhouses,” which people may build or arrange for installation, Helton said.

“We carry Janssens greenhouses, which come from Belgium, and Hoklartherms, which come from Germany,” he said. “Both are well-built and are made to hold up under snow.”

For hunters, he said, the business carries electric UTVs (utility task vehicles).

“I sold one to a deer hunter,” he said. “He told me they’re really quiet.”

For those looking ahead to the holidays, Helton said, the store offers a complete line of A.M. Leonard gardening, farming and landscaping hand tools.

“Most carry a lifetime warranty, so they make a really nice Christmas gift,” Helton said.

He and his wife, Merrie, who helps in the store, live in Cedar Hill. Their twin sons, Archer and Aden, 18, help run the business.
