Ruby’s King of the Road has been in the asphalt business for two decades, and the demand for its services is only increasing, co-owner Bob Ellis said.
He said concrete prices have been on the rise, which, in turn, has caused a rise in the demand for asphalt.
The global asphalt market size is expected to hit $321.5 million by 2027, according to “Fortune Business Insights,” while the National Association of Home Builders reported concrete costs continue to increase at a “historic pace.”
“(Demand for asphalt) rises every year,” said Ellis of New London.
Lee Ruby co-owns the company, which is on Orchard Avenue in Hannibal. The company offers residential and commercial services ranging from installing or resurfacing asphalt driveways, parking areas and other areas to seal coating those kinds of paved surfaces.
“We like working with our hands,” Ellis said. “We’re hands on, very public related.”
Ellis said what makes Ruby’s King of the Road stand out from similar businesses is its public relations.
“We listen to every customer,” he said. “What they would like and what they wouldn’t like. We work with them real well (and) they work with us.”
The company has “numerous” repeat customers, including people who own rental properties or businesses, who depend on the services Ruby’s King of the Road provides, such as a seal coating.
Ruby’s King of the Road’s service area covers about a 180-mile radius, including the Jefferson County area.
