Jason Partney, owner of Partney Heating & Cooling in Herculaneum, said giving back to the community is key for his small business.
“We’re able to give back to the community because the customers are good to us,” he said.
The residential and commercial HVAC company was founded in 1997 and serves Jefferson and St. Louis counties. The business, 1359 McNutt St., has five full-time employees.
Partney said the level of care his company gives to its clients is something you won’t experience with larger firms.
For example, the company sends homemade cookies, usually chocolate chip, to customers after every installation, he said.
Partney said every year his employees choose two or three people for furnace or air conditioning giveaways. Usually, about seven people apply for free services when the giveaway is announced.
This year, the company will install a new air conditioner for a Hillsboro woman.
“She had a non-working air conditioner that could not be repaired,” Partney said. “We chose her as our winner. We love to give back to the community.”
Partney said now is the busiest time for him due to a surge in air-conditioning repairs and replacements.
He recommends homeowners have their systems checked in the spring. Also, filters should be replaced once a month.
Furnaces should be checked in the early fall, Partney added.
The company also has a fully computerized sheet metal shop to make custom residential and commercial ductwork. Partney said the company makes all its ductwork.
“For a small local shop, we’ve got the same equipment that a larger shop would have,” he said.
The company’s mascot, Bill the yellow Labrador, has become a recognizable symbol since his image appears on Partney Heating & Cooling trucks and billboards.
