Farm Bureau Insurance offers lifetime protection
Ernie Weiler of the Missouri Farm Bureau says his agency offers coverage for homes, farms, autos, businesses and boats, but he and his staff are interested in more than just writing policies. They hope to help families with planning and coverage over the arc of their lifetimes.
“Life insurance is not that expensive,” he said. “And the younger you are, the cheaper it is to purchase. It’s a great product for young couples just getting started. You lock in costs when you’re young, and then you have insurability forever.”
He said the proceeds from whole life policies can be used in a variety of ways.
“You can put it into education funds, use it for a down payment on a home, use it for emergencies,” he said. “Insurance can provide a good cushion. And, if it’s planned out correctly, you’re hoping to reach retirement age and have a policy that is paid up and you can use it to take care of last expenses.”
Weiler, 59, has been in the industry for 35 years, the last 27 with Missouri Farm Bureau. He has three agents and a customer service representative.
“We offer brokerage services also,” he said. “If we can’t do it in-house, we know where to send it. I tell clients, if it can be insured, we’ll find it for you.”
Weiler and his staff also offer information about annuities and retirement planning. “It’s good to have one person who understands what your plans are so there are no gaps, nothing left uncovered,” he said.
