Lohman shares good fortune with community
For Laura Lohman of Main Key Realty in Festus, being in the real estate business means more than simply helping people buy and sell houses.
Lohman, who formerly worked in the hotel industry, found herself at a career crossroads when she was furloughed in March 2020 as the global pandemic set in.
“I lost my longtime career and with that I went from making a great living to having nothing coming in,” she said.
Lohman completed an online real estate course in less than three weeks and found immediate success.
She said that was gratifying, but she knew she had to share her good fortune.
“I knew I had to use my resources and abilities to help people still experiencing those lows I had been through,” she said. “As a top producer in this market, not only have I been able to assist almost 30 families and investors this year buy and sell their dream homes, I have been able to spend my time volunteering and giving back in many ways.”
Lohman has worked with the Twin City Little League and the Andy Habsieger Foundation, which provides scholarships to local high school athletes.
She helps host quarterly American Red Cross blood drives at Main Key and donates part of her sales commissions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“That led to an amazing experience dining with Ozzie Smith on the field at Busch Stadium for the All Saints Gala while meeting families we have helped,” she said.
“My goal is to continue to grow my business and continue to give back to our local community,” she said. “The best part of all of this, I am just getting started.”
