HGTV sparks agent’s interest in real estate
Andi Tidwell, an agent with Main Key Realty in Festus, grew up watching HGTV programs and thought she might like a career in real estate.
Instead, she started working in the dental field and put her real estate interests on hold.
“Once I started having children,” she said, “I found it hard to find a balance with a nine-to-five job and my family. I decided I needed to make my own schedule.”
So, Tidwell, 33, of De Soto pursued her passion for homes and turned to a career in real estate.
Starting a real estate career requires lots more than casual viewing of do-it-yourself TV shows, though.
Tidwell earned her license in 2019 and started with another local firm before switching to Main Key.
She said the company matches her personal business philosophy.
“Something Main Key strives for is positivity and teamwork,” Tidwell said.
She said the team also stresses continued education.
“There is so much knowledge and training you need to be successful, especially in this aggressive market,” she said.
In her first year with Main Key, Tidwell said she is on track to do more than $5 million in sales.
In addition to serving her real estate clients, Tidwell has found ways to serve the community.
“Main Key does lots of events as a brokerage,” she said. “I did probably 10 if not more events. Then I decided to go out on my own and planned a coat drive for kids.”
The drive brought in 118 coats, which were distributed to local schools.
She also volunteered at the De Soto Rotary pancake breakfast.
“I am always interested in doing things I can to help others,” she said.
