Lisa Garza, a senior real estate specialist certified Realtor at More Realtors, said she loves to work with seniors and help ease their transition to the next chapter in their lives, which often involves selling their homes and moving to smaller ones or to senior living communities or facilities.
“My role is to lift the burden by managing the details, repairs, staging and preparation,” she said. “Yes, I do sell homes, but first and foremost I serve people, making sure each client feels heard, respected and supported from start to finish.”
Garza said the population of those 80 and older is expected to grow significantly, which creates more demand for housing options tailored to seniors’ needs.
“Senior housing communities are already seeing high occupancy rates and limited new supply,” she said.
Garza, who has been with More Realtors for more than five years, began her real estate career in 2011 when she started a home renovation business with her husband.
She said her previous experience in renovating and staging homes provided her with expertise other real estate professionals may not have.
As for design trends, Garza said warm inviting interiors and neutral aesthetics are popular, although adding a splash of color on an accent wall is always pleasing.
Garza also said home smart devices have been growing in popularity and are not just for the younger generation.
Smart Locks can allow senior’s family members or caregivers access to video doorbells and cameras and access to enter their home, she said.
The More Realtors office is at 3636 S. Geyer Road, Suite 100, in St. Louis County.
