While acknowledging that interest rates have been on the rise, Realtor LeAnna Obermeyer said people should not wait to sell and buy homes.

Obermeyer, who works out of the Main Key Realty office, 114 E. Main St., Festus, said people commonly seek her advice about the ups and downs of the real estate market.

“I get asked that a lot,” Obermeyer said. “From my perspective, I’m very busy. I’m very blessed.

“For everyone concerned about the interest rates, there are still people who have to move or want to move. Even though interest rates have risen, don’t let it stop you from selling or buying a house.”

Retired from teaching in the Festus R-6 and Jefferson R-7 school districts, Obermeyer uses her teaching skills in her current profession.

“I really try to spend a lot of time with my clients and other people I know to try to educate them about the market,” she said. “Do not let the market scare you. There’s always a buyer and always a seller, if you have the right agent to help you find one.”

Obermeyer has worked in real estate for decades, switching to the profession full-time after retiring from education last year.

She and her family live in Festus, but her scope of operations for his business covers a much larger area.

“Festus is my base of operations and I spend much of my time in Jefferson County, but I also go to St. Louis County, St. Francois County, Washington County,” she said. “I have partnerships with other agents across the state. I’m also licensed at the Lake of the Ozarks.”
