New path: Anderson enjoying real estate career
Kim Anderson is a relative newcomer to the real estate business, but she said she’s happy with her new career as an agent for Heartland Realty in De Soto.
She said she’s starting her third year helping people buy and sell homes.
“I’m a newer agent, but I hit the ground running,” the De Soto resident said. “At first, I wasn’t sure if real estate would be a good fit for me, but it turns out it’s been even better than I hoped. It’s been very rewarding.”
Anderson said after her two children – both De Soto High School graduates– were grown, she began looking for something new.
“My husband (Gary) and I were involved in rental property, and we rehabbed homes, so I was familiar with the industry,” Anderson said. “It seemed like a natural progression.”
Anderson said she enjoys the personal aspects of the business.
“I’ve gotten to meet so many people from so many areas. I’ve had three clients from California who were looking to move to Missouri. That was something fun and definitely unexpected,” she said.
Anderson said the part of the job that’s most rewarding is the payoff.
“It’s when you’re at the closing table and your client is smiling because they’ve done it and they’re anxious to get on with the next chapter of their life. And you’ve helped them,” she said.
Anderson said she’s thankful for her clients.
“I have to give a huge thank-you to all of them, and that I appreciate their business. I’m looking forward to working with them and meeting their family and friends,” she said. “Even though the temperatures are cooling off, the market is still hot, for buyers and sellers.”
