Homes still selling in current housing market
Shelley Ungerank, a real estate agent with Heartland Realty in De Soto, said that even though the housing market has cooled off since the summer, homes are still selling.
“I don’t want the public to think that it has come to a halt. We had a house go under contract just yesterday and one last week. We’re still listing,” she said. “There are still a lot of buyers out there looking for houses.”
For Ungerank, the best-selling houses in the last two years have been the Villas at West Ridge development on Hickory Landing Drive off Hwy. 21 in De Soto. She has been working closely with the builder, James McCullough, on the new development.
While the Villas have been selling consistently, Ungerank said there are still more available for purchase.
“People call me all the time and they think that we’re done building and we’re not. There are still over 20 more villas to be built there,” she said. “There’s still plenty of space.”
Ungerank recommends that interested buyers stop by to check out the newly built pavilion at the Villas, which will serve as a community area for the community.

Ungerank has been with Heartland Realty since 2008, and her experience in the business makes the home buying process smooth. While many focus on picking out a house, Ungerank says what happens afterward is her specialty.
“That 30 to 40 days before you close is a grueling process. You want to explain things to people and make them understand what their options are,” she said.
