Scott and Kim Sebaugh attended the Night of Superstars, an event that celebrates disabled children, when it was held in-person before the pandemic.
Hillsboro tops for Realtor
Kim Sebaugh, a Realtor with Gateway Real Estate of Festus, prides herself on her Jefferson County roots, particularly those in Hillsboro.
Sebaugh, a 1980 Hillsboro High School graduate, has worked in the real estate industry for about 14 years and is a former president of the Southern Gateway Association of Realtors.
“I love what I do,” she said. “I have a saying, that when you become a Realtor, you don’t only get a job, but a lifestyle. But it’s great. I especially love putting a first-time home buyer into their first house.”
After moving away from the area for a while, Seabaugh said she returned with a renewed appreciation for the county seat.
“Hillsboro is home,” she said. “This is where I grew up, and this is where I’m raising my family (daughters Amanda and Lauren). It’s got a small-town feel, but it’s not that far from the big city.”
Sebaugh said she likes to give back to her home and serves Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce board.
“I’m also treasurer of Ride On St. Louis, a therapeutic horsemanship group. When I moved back to Hillsboro from Chesterfield, my husband, Scott, and I had Arabian horses, so we were in that circle,” she said. “Scott’s niece, Carissa, is handicapped, and I saw how much good (the therapeutic horses) were doing for her. It was just natural that I would want to be involved.”
She’s also involved with Brendan’s Friday Backpacks.
Sebaugh said it’s not hard for her to juggle her job and volunteer work.
“Working in real estate, many of my clients don’t necessarily need me 24-7,” she said. “I hear from them on the weekends and during the evenings, so that gives me time for volunteer opportunities. And the places I volunteer understand my working situation as well.”
