Tonia Schmitt with Heartland Realty in De Soto said she gained years of experience in the real estate business, working with investors and property managers for a decade, before launching her real estate career earlier this year.
She said her work in property management taught her what makes a property a valuable investment.
“My mission is to help you see the bigger picture,” Schmitt said. “ I’ve seen firsthand the factors that truly drive long-term value.
“I’ve walked through so many homes over the years. I know what to look for – this looks good; this doesn’t,” she said. “I am committed to making your real estate journey seamless and successful. It’s about making smart decisions today that pay off exponentially tomorrow.”
She and her husband, Mike Schmitt, owner of Holy Schmitt Construction, work with De Soto’s Green Team and its beautification efforts. In addition, they recently purchased the historic Hamel home on South Second Street in De Soto. Renovations have begun with a new roof and clearing brush from the front of the home. She said De Soto residents and visitors can watch the progress as the home is transformed.
Schmitt said her biggest challenge in starting a business is building name recognition.
“I’m looking forward to getting my name out there and getting myself in front of people,” she said.
