Flooring Systems Outlet Store has flooring styles that you can’t find everywhere, said Joan Komlos, who has owned the business for more than 20 years.
“We carry mostly Olean and Daltile, but a lot of our porcelain tile comes from Turkey, Spain and Italy,” Komlos said. “We have stuff that you’re not going to see at other places like Home Depot.”
The business, formerly called Closeout Flooring, recently moved into new quarters at 6245 Lemay Ferry Road, Unit B, in south St. Louis County.
The new location features an 8,000-square-foot warehouse, which allows the business to offer many different types of flooring, including laminate, ceramic, porcelain, quarry tile, click-together vinyl, area rugs, bound area rugs and carpet tile.
Komlos said what’s unique about her store is that it can offer quality merchandise at a low price.
She said often when contractors buy tile from overseas, they order more than is estimated to be used to ensure that they won’t run short.
The contractors then sell what’s left to Komlos, who can then offer that material at a fraction of the original cost.
“Everything we have but the vinyl and laminate is stuff that is left over from other jobs, so I’m able to sell it below contractor’s cost.”
Komlos says a box of porcelain tiles she sold for $15 was priced at $85 when purchased directly from the manufacturer.
Komlos said customers will notice the value when they visit her store.
“People realize what the savings are here,” she said. “Prices are what sets my business apart. Prices and good, quality merchandise.”
