Flooring Systems Outlet Store has unbeatable prices on quality merchandise, owner Joan Komlos said.
The store, 6245 Lemay Ferry Road, Unit B, in south St. Louis County sells flooring left over from finished jobs. She said often when contractors buy tile from overseas, they usually order more than is estimated to ensure that they won’t run short. They then sell her what is left at a fraction of the original cost, which allows her to pass on that savings to customers.
The primary source of the store’s inventory is Flooring Systems, a contractor that is owned by her son, Ron Komlos.
“He does a lot of high-end places, the big construction jobs,” Joan Komlos said. “We get new products all the time and most of the things we have in our store, you don’t see any place else.”
Flooring Systems Outlet Store has an 8,000-square-foot warehouse. The space allows the business to offer a wide variety of flooring, including laminate, engineered hardwood, ceramic, porcelain, quarry tile, click-together vinyl, click-together travertine, area rugs, bound area rugs and carpet tile.
Not only does the store offer high-end products, she said it’s often ahead of the current fashion.
“We’re generally ahead of the trend,” Komlos said. “Like now, people are still buying gray but we’re installing more beige, brown and tan colors. I’m getting more tan leftovers than gray leftovers.”
Flooring Systems Outlet Store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
