Homeowners with hail or wind damage from one of thunderstorms last spring still have time to file a claim, said Katie Rice, owner of Diamond Roofing & Exteriors.

“We’ve already helped many customers in Jefferson County restore their homes from the spring storms,” said Rice, a Seckman High School graduate who was raised in Imperial and now lives in the Columbia, Ill., area, where the company is based. “Most homeowners don’t realize they have up to a year to make an insurance claim.”

She said Diamond Roofing offers free inspections.

The company also specializes in storm damage services and helps with every step of filing a claim with insurance companies, Rice said.

“Storm damage restoration services include thorough assessments, emergency repairs and assistance with insurance claims to get your home back to pre-storm conditions,” she said.

Signs you need a new roof include shingles that are cracked, curling or missing; excessive granule loss; visible sagging or dips in the roof; and water stains on ceilings or walls. Also, if your roof is more than 20 years old, it’s probably time for a new one.

Diamond Roofing is a female-owned business that Rice founded in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.

“I started working for another roofing company in 2017 and branched out on my own in 2020,” she said.

Initially, she was worried about being in a male-dominated business but has found that people reach out to her because her company is female-run.

The business serves the St. Louis area and provides roof repairs and replacements, vinyl siding installation, storm damage restoration and gutter replacement. It offers asphalt shingles, metal roofing and flat roofing systems.

Office hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
