Comfort Cabinetry takes its first name to heart
Kristy Carder, designer and owner of Comfort Cabinetry in De Soto, says when she founded the company about five years ago, she gave some thought to the name.
“I chose Comfort Cabinetry because your kitchen is the heart of your home,” she said. “When I think of a kitchen, I think of comfort foods. A kitchen is the place where you go to feel at home.”
Comfort Cabinetry offers custom home remodeling “pretty much in every room of the home,” Carder said. “We do baths, pantries, closet systems, everywhere. If it’s a new home construction, we’re involved with the entire home.
“But if you’re coming to us with a remodeling project, most people want to start in the kitchen.”
Carder said the process begins with a conversation as part of a free consultation.
“I’ll visit the home, and I start by asking what you like and what you don’t like. I’ll ask lots of questions.”
The next step, she said, is a visit to the showroom at 404 Main St.
“After the plan is designed, you get to see it in three dimensions on a big-screen TV,” she said.
Carder said unlike big box stores, Comfort Cabinetry is involved in every step of the remodeling project.
“We’re very hands-on. We want to make sure all the i’s are dotted and every t is crossed,” she said.
Carder said she enjoys the creative aspect of her job.
“Being able to transform a space and see the excitement in a homeowner’s face when they see the finished product is fantastic,” she said.
Carder said that personal touch doesn’t mean Comfort Cabinetry is more expensive.
“We’re very competitive with the big box stores,” she said.
