Both Jack and Liz stressed the importance of getting a home inspection before buying a home, especially in the last few years.
“More often than not, buying a home is the largest single investment you will ever make,” Liz said. “If you try to save a little money by buying a house without an inspection, you never know what you’re missing and might have to pay a lot in the long run.”
After an inspection, Castle Home Inspections provides a report that covers the operation of the home’s heating system; central air-conditioning system (temperature permitting); interior plumbing and main electrical panel; the roof, attic and visible insulation; walls, ceilings, floors, windows and doors; as well as the foundation, basement and structural components.
Liz said the current local housing market is still hot, and because of that more buyers than ever are signing contracts to purchase homes without having them inspected.
She advises against that practice.
“In 2018, there was no problem with getting a home inspection and the buyer would find out what the conditions of the home are,” Liz said. “But now, buyers are so desperate to get the contract accepted that they are purchasing homes without finding out the conditions. Those conditions of the home are still there; they just don’t know about them.”
