Backbone Home Furnishings has a new home. The business moved to 20 Jefferson Square in De Soto from Festus in March.

Christian Roth, who owns the business with his wife, Corin, said it is located just south of Walmart off Hwy. 21.

“Our move from Festus was a success,” he said. “We increased our showroom floor space by 20,000 square feet and added a discount showroom (in the back of the store with cash-only items).”

Furniture can be customized and isn’t limited to what is on the showroom floor. Backbone carries a large selection of American-made furniture and mattresses.

“We are a veteran and family-owned business specializing in new whole home furnishings, mattresses, accents, gifts, lighting, decor and more,” Roth said. “Customizable and quick options available.”

Brands include Flexsteel, England, Progressive, Leather Italia USA, Riverside, Capital Bedding, Coaster, Loloi Rugs, Kincaid and American Drew.

“We have done a ton with our Amish brand, Daniel’s Amish (Furniture),” Roth said. “It is made in Ohio and is fully customizable for bedroom and dining. You pick the wood species, stains and paints, fabrics and handles or pulls. Orders come in eight weeks. Very fun and fast for custom, very well-built pieces, all solid wood and hand made.”

Roth said they change the home décor inventory with the seasons and holidays. In addition, they offer jellies, jams, dip mixes, sauces and seasonings.

He said they now sell ice cream by the pint at the front of the store so customers can have a fun treat while they shop.

Store hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
