A&M Urban Renewal clients only need a picture to start making their home renovation dreams a reality.
Matt Ramsbottom, the company’s owner, said many clients have a picture of a bathroom or kitchen when he first meets with them. His company, 2845 Pennsylvania Ave., St. Louis, is able to take that picture and formulate a plan.
“It almost makes it easier,” Ramsbottom said. “You can come up with a material list based on the age of the home and tell them what restructuring needs to happen. It simplifies everything to know what clients are expecting out of the gate.”
Ramsbottom said while he does a lot of the design work, he also works with architectural engineers to map out how a bathroom, kitchen or home is renovated. During construction, he said A&M employees handle everything themselves, except for plumbing and electric wiring.
“We are licensed and bonded, and we are always pulling permits to protect the owner,” Ramsbottom said.
He said A&M typically can schedule 25 to 30 projects per year, and he mainly works on homes in Jefferson and St. Louis counties and in St. Louis.
“We specialize in older buildings,” Ramsbottom said. “We almost look at anything as newly constructed as being built after the 1930s.”
Ramsbottom said he is in contact with clients throughout a project, and he often becomes friends with them.
“It is not uncommon for me to go to a client’s house multiple times throughout a project,” he said. “It can become a friendship. We stay busy thanks to word-of-mouth referrals and by doing a good job, from one guy to the next.”
