As the new head coach at De Soto, Keith Woodland knew he’d face many challenges in preparing the Dragons, 2-7 last year, for the 2021 season.

Following a recent trend among the county’s prep football teams, another school has promoted a former local player from assistant to head coach.

After being embarrassed 62-0 by North County the week before, De Soto went to Festus on Friday night to show some signs of life.

Some of the last names on De Soto’s football team are familiar.
