Robert Gene “Rally” Godier, 90, of Festus died Feb. 23, 2022, in Herculaneum. Mr. Godier retired from Liguori Publications in Barnhart as a production supervisor after 40 years. He was a member of Our Lady Church in Festus and Elks Lodge 1721 in Crystal City, where he enjoyed playing cards with his buddies. Born March 4, 1931, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Schweigert) and John R. Godier. He was preceded in death by his wife: Nancy Barbara (Pytel) Godier.
He is survived by two sons: Kevin (Christine Berry) Godier of Bloomsdale and Curtis (Chad) Godier of Herculaneum; three grandchildren: Erin Morgan, Jacquelyn (Brad) Sexton and Robert (Kara) Godier; three great-grandchildren: Ayden, Aubrianne and Ashton Godier; a dear friend: Gary Waldman of Hillsboro; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Michael Allen Godier; three sisters: Evelyn Godier, Maybelle (the late Andrew) Backy and Irene Godier; and three brothers: John K. (the late May) Godier Sr., Irvin (the late Vera) Godier and Raymond (the late Helen) Godier.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Tish Green. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Kindred Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
