Robert C. Schneider, 80, of St. Louis died July 26, 2019, at his home. Mr. Schneider was a contractor by trade and worked his entire career in concrete flatwork and concrete restoration. He served for several years with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the water, boating, hunting and fishing. Nearly every summer evening was spent on the Mississippi River or Lake of the Ozarks with friends and family. He also was a sports enthusiast who coached his son’s soccer team and a faithful follower of St. Louis football and Cardinals baseball. Spring and fall seasons were spent hunting and field trialing with his beloved Brittany spaniels, his hunting buddies and his children. His annual post-Thanksgiving hunting trip to northern Missouri with his son and later his grandson was the highlight. He was proud and happy to spend time with his grandchildren and support them in their activities. He was born May 7, 1939, in St. Louis, the son of the late Russell and Helen Schneider.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years: Vickie (Maddux) Schneider, whom he married on Sept. 29, 1962; a son: Rob (Jennifer) Schneider; a daughter: Jill (Don) Lafferty; four grandchildren: Adam, Paige, McKenna and Addison; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two siblings: Russell Jr. and Betty.
Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road in St. Louis County.
