Richard Gregory Henderson, 86, of St. Joseph died Feb. 19, 2017, at CarriageNursingCenter in St. Joseph. Mr. Henderson was a teacher at Columbia-HickmanHigh School. He liked gardening and running and was a high school biology club sponsor, a CPR instructor, and a member of ThomasMooreNewmanCenter in Columbia. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. Born April 1, 1930, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Charles B. Henderson and Elizabeth (Watelhorst) Henderson. He was preceded in death by his wife: Jane (Murray) Henderson and sister: Dorthy Whatley.
He is survived by one son: Chris (Dawn) Henderson of North Dakota; three daughters: Mary (Kevin) Kohne of Festus, Lisa (Carlos Mentley) Signori of South Carolina and Jean (John) Foster of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren: Mike (Maddie) Kohne, Claire Kohne, Ethan Signori, Erin Signori, Toni (Kyle) Perry, Kathleen (Wes) Reilly, Sean Reilly, Caitlin (Mitch) Vore, Hannah Vore, William Vore and Marissa Foster; and three great-grandchildren: Aliah, Kayden and Kaylee.
A funeral service was held Feb. 23 at Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus, officiated by Father Jeffery Maassen. Mr. Henderson will be buried Friday, Feb. 24, at the NationalCemetery at Jefferson Barracks, with a procession scheduled to leave at 9 a.m. from Mahn Twin City Chapel.
Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
