William J. “Butch” Collins, 63, of Hillsboro died May 8, 2023, at Sunset Health Center in Union. Mr. Collins graduated from Thayer High School in 1977 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as an administrative specialist. He later worked for Overnite Transportation and Fred Weber Inc., where he enjoyed chatting with his coworkers. He enjoyed late model racing, storytelling, being on the water and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Born Aug. 30, 1959, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., he was the son of the late Nadine and Owen Collins.
He is survived by two children: BJ (Becky) Collins of Petersburg, Ill., and Dusty (Angel) Collins of Hillsboro; a sister: Denise (Mike) Johnson of Jackson; five grandchildren: Caitlyn, Elizabeth, Summer, Jonathan and Skyler; and two nieces: Andrea (Nate) Adams and Kristy (Brian) Land.
At Mr. Collins’ request, no services will be held. His wishes were for those who remember him to spend time with each other and go camping once in a while.
