Paul D. Gamble, 78, Hillsboro

Paul D. Gamble, 78, of Hillsboro died June 3, 2023, at his home in Hillsboro. Mr. Gamble attended Southwest High School in St. Louis, worked as a police officer in St. Louis and owned two deli shops in the St. Louis area. He was a member of Laborer’s Union 110. He loved nature, spending time with his family and riding a side-by-side ATV with friends and neighbors. He will be remembered for his smile and laugh. Born Dec. 22, 1944, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Mary (Vidacak) and Jack Gamble Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Michele (Hume) “Mickie” Gamble; two children: Paul Scott (Sandy) Gamble of Florida and Terri (Robert) Moja of Florida; five grandchildren: Scotty (Kayse) Wilhelm, Randy (Kristina) Gamble, Nicole (Sean) Pickard, Consie-Ann Wilhelm and Logan McMahon; three great-grandchildren: Hunter, Caleb and Tripp; and a great-great-grandchildren: Leila Kate; four siblings: Beverly Bognar of Barnhart, Janet (Ron) Becker of Mehlville, Carol (David) Weston of Barnhart and Jack (Tammy) Gamble Jr. of Hawaii; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Nick Bognar.

A celebration of life will be held from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Autism Speaks. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
