Thomas L. Mazurek, 65, of De Soto died Sept. 5, 2026, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County. Mr. Mazurek graduated from Hillsboro High School and worked for many years for Union Pacific Railroad. He loved the outdoors and had a strong appreciation for the conservation of Missouri’s natural resources. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and some of his happiest times were spent outdoors with family and friends. His commitment to protecting the places he loved extended beyond recreation. He was an active member of the Missouri Stream Team, volunteering his time to help clean and preserve rivers and waterways throughout Missouri. He will be remembered for his love of nature, his appreciation for the wilderness and the memories he created with those closest to him. Born Nov. 30, 1960, in Richmond Heights, he was the son of Martha (Brueggemann) Mazurek of Wentzville and the late Joseph Mazurek.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four children: Jennifer (Jason) Lewandowski of De Soto, Jeff (Amy) Mazurek of Hillsboro, Julie (Andrew) Hubbard of Hillsboro and Derek (Melanie) DeClue of Festus; 14 grandchildren: Taylor, Trevor, Natalie, Lola, Lane, Jayden, Piper, Layla, Jackson, Lawson, Clara, Owen, Reece and Grayson; a brother: Jim (Lori) Mazurek of Papillion, Neb.; a sister: Mary Ann (Conrad) McMillin of Wentzville; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Joey; and a sister: Patricia.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Private inurnment will take place in Good Shepherd Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Stream Team at mostreamteam.org/make-a-donation.
