Sue Ellen Dugan, 84, of Kirkwood died Aug. 29, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Dugan enjoyed taking care of others. She was the family caregiver, caring for her grandchildren and babysitting others, loving them as her own. She worked well into her 70s, caring for others in their homes. She loved having a houseful of family for the holidays or everyone going over to Grandma's for her famous chicken and dumplings. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her hugs, kindness and strength. She was born Dec. 11, 1941.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: Harry Dugan
She is survived by a daughter: Robin (Jimmy) Govro of Festus; six granddaughters: Jennifer Croft, Cindy Marsden, Amy Hampton, Amber Govro, Katie Chojnowski and Emma Dugan; three grandsons: Casey Abel, Jimmy Govro and Steven Dugan; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Sarah Kitchen; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Renee Abel; a son: Harry Dugan; and her sister: Sharon Newton.
Services were held Sept. 8 at Chapel Hill Mortuary, Robert Brown Chapel, in Hillsboro. Arrangements were under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary, Robert Brown Chapel.
