Selena “Maxine” (Burns) Griffin, 86, of Byrnes Mill died Aug. 19, 2025, in St. Louis. Mrs. Griffin was considered the heart and matriarch of her family. She was known for her kind and pure soul, her thoughtfulness and her remarkable memory. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion, often sending a card, making a call or preparing a favorite dish for others. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially gardening and reading. Above all, she will be remembered for her unconditional love, selflessness and her time spent with family. Born Feb. 12, 1939, in Mineral Point, she was the daughter of the late Norman Lee and Mabel Marie (Gibson) Burns.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Donnie Griffin.
She is survived by three children Kayla (John) Brockman, Kelly (Kevin) McCune and Kara (Jim) Jeffries; six grandchildren: Christopher (Crystal) Brockman, Matthew (Stephanie) McCune, Benjamin (Kaylee) McCune, Kristina (Kraig) Schinzing, Kortney (Jake) Pitts and Kyle (Kimberly) Jeffries; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Sharon (Bill) Adams; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will immediately follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
