Ralph Elmer Meuser, 90, of Dittmer died May 28, 2026, in Fenton. Mr. Meuser graduated from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M) with a degree in chemistry. He served in the U.S. Army in special chemical operations and afterward continued his career in the chemical industry in St. Louis, leading key industry associations before retiring to the farm in 1993. He was known for his service, generosity and commitment to the community. He enjoyed being active in the High Ridge Rotary Club and served in many roles within the organization. He was instrumental in bringing the 911 Emergency Service to Jefferson County, championed for the skate park, delivered Meals on Wheels for 18 years and was a founding member of the Jefferson County Parks Foundation. For 30 years, he hosted a pig roast at his Dittmer farm, creating lasting memories and bringing people together. Known as “Good ‘Ol Ralph,” he will be remembered for his kindness, leadership and community service. Born Oct. 1, 1935, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Elmer and Florence (Schwach) Meuser.
He is survived by his companion: Susan Cook; three children: William (Donna Pariani) Meuser, Michael (Cathie) Meuser and Amy (Kurt) DeRouse; six grandchildren: Nicole (William) Meuser-Tolson, Max Meuser, Jack Meuser, Joshua (Allison) DeRouse, Hope DeRouse and Madison DeRouse; two great-grandchildren: Sophia and Peyton DeRouse; the mother of his children: Geraldine Meuser; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until a memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Louis Shriners Hospital for Children. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
