Kraus, Norvill

Norvill Henry Kraus, 91, of Barnhart died Nov. 9, 2023, at his home. Mr. Kraus was a retired farmer from the family-owned Kraus Dairy Farm. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ in Imperial and was active on the church board for several years. He also was a member of the Fox C-6 School Board for more than a decade. He served on the Missouri Farm Bureau Board, the University of Missouri Extension Council, was a former volunteer firefighter for Antonia Fire Department and served in the U.S. Army. He spent his retirement years enjoying the outdoors and riding his Gator utility vehicle with his wife around the family farm. He loved spending time with his family more than anything. Born Aug. 20, 1932, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Julia (Schlueter) and Henry Kraus.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years: Joyce (Knippenberg) Kraus; five children: Andrea (Bob) Johnson, Darrell (Teresa) Kraus, Dwight (Chris) Kraus, Connie (Robert) Stuckmeyer and Lyle (Kimberly) Kraus; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer (Christopher) Cano, Kathryn (Taylor) Reiff, Sarah (Michael) Saputo, Andrew (Jenna) Kraus, Abraham (Julie) Kraus, Jacob (Giovanna) Stuckmeyer, Justin (Courtney) Stuckmeyer, Joseph Stuckmeyer, Emily Kraus and Natalie Kraus; and three great-grandchildren: Maybree Saputo, Mariella Saputo and Vincent Reiff.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Olivia (the late Paul) Eichhorn, Erna (the late Victor) Martin and Alta (the late Jacob) Schmidt; and a grandson: Noah Charles Kraus.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until a service at 11 a. m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 6610 St. Luke’s Church Road, in Imperial, officiated by Pastor James Hill. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. A private burial will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the St. Luke’s United Church of Christ general fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
