John Raker, 66, of Festus died Aug. 28, 2025. Mr. Raker retired and was working for an ice cream vendor in the Festus/Crystal City area. He was a devoted Christian and known for caring and helping others. He will be remembered for his open heart and generous spirit. Born Oct. 24, 1958, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late J.D. “Jake” and Norma L. (Evans) Raker.
He is survived by his sibling: Lindsey Raker of Festus; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Darlene Decker; and a brother-in-law: Rattler Decker.
Mr. Raker was cremated. No services will be held. Memorials may be made to Compassionate International, 12290 Voyager Pkwy., Colorado Springs, CO 80921 or the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Drive, St. Louis, 63111. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
