 
            Jerry Dale Prater, 73, of House Springs died Oct. 22, 2025, at his home after a long illness. Mr. Prater was a U.S. Army veteran and a printing press operator by trade. He was known to value dedication, friendship and family. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of High Ridge, where he and his wife were married. They shared 51 years together. A true outdoorsman, he loved deer hunting for more than 40 years, fishing and camping with family and friends. He would often enjoy a deer meat dinner after a day of hunting or loved eating a home-cooked meal with family, especially Kathy’s famous Christmas cookies. He also enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball games, wrestling or watching an old Western on TV. He had a lifelong love of hot rods and motorcycles, especially Harley-Davidsons. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, big heart and love of life. Born Feb. 14, 1952, in Vandalia, Ill., he was the son of the late Lowell Carmel Prater and Lena Mary (Martin) Prater.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Kathleen (Kohlfeld) Prater; two sons: John Brian Prater and David Michael Prater; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Carmel Lee Prater.
