Meyer, James

James Robert “Jim” Meyer, 85, of Sebring, Fla., died Oct. 1, 2025. Mr. Meyer, a proud member of Local 513, worked as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years, where he showed integrity and dedication. He was known as a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing on quiet waters, hunting with friends, repairing anything that came his way, often with a grin and a word of wisdom, and sharing faith with others. He was active in his community, volunteering through New Hope and helping families in need. He was also a member of the Sunny Pines community in Sebring. He loved spending time with his family and being a “Papa.” He will be remembered for his laughter, sharp wit and compassion. Born Oct. 21, 1939, in St. Louis, he was the son of Walter Meyer and Elsie Nicholson.

He is survived by his wife: Marjorie Meyer; four daughters: Lori Wolfe, Shelley Nappier, Angie Larsen and Shawn Watkins; a son: Kevin Durham; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Cindy Meyer.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
