Mary Louise Kertz, 83, of Ste. Genevieve died June 8, 2019, at The Arbors at Parkwood Meadows in Ste. Genevieve. Mrs. Kertz was a member of the VFW auxiliary who loved to sing and dance. Born Jan. 8, 1936, in River aux Vases, she was the daughter of the late Rose May (Schweigert) and Raymond L. Basler.
She was preceded in death by two husbands: Albert “Buddy” Burgert Jr. and Clarence J. Kertz.
She is survived by two daughters: Kathleen (John) Govero of Festus and Brenda (Junie) Basler of Bloomsdale; a stepson: Chris (Linda) Kertz of Ste. Genevieve; two stepdaughters: Janet (Bob) Hermann of Imperial and Doris (Dave) Steinbecker of Perryville; six brothers: Raymond “Schnay” (Jeanette) Basler of Ste. Genevieve, Marvin (Loretta) Basler of Ste. Genevieve, Arthur “Porky” Basler of Ste. Genevieve, Robert (Gloria Ann) Basler of River aux Vases, Lawrence “Larry” (Gloria Jean) Basler of Ste. Genevieve and Kenneth “Kenny” Basler of Ste. Genevieve; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson: Dale Kertz; and two sisters: Margaret Samson and Jeanie Eans.
Visitation will be from 8-10:15 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, Ste. Genevieve. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church, 49 DuBourg Place, Ste. Genevieve, officiated by the Rev. Robert Samson. Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve. Memorials may be made to the Valle Schools Foundation or to Crown Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
