Lance Cpl. Jeffry Ray Pirkle, 21, of Tarawa Terrace, N.C, died Aug. 11, 2020, in North Carolina. Lance Cpl. Pirkle served in the Marine Corps, training at Fort Leonard Wood and completing boot camp in California before being stationed in Arizona and then North Carolina. He was a graduate of Northwest High School in Cedar Hill, where he played football. He enjoyed fishing, camping and making others laugh. Born Jan. 3, 1999, in Searcy, Ark., he was the son of Jeffry Scott and Alyssa Lynn (Colella) Pirkle.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother: Jacob Pirkle; a sister: Lindsey Pirkle; an aunt: Elizabeth Floerchinger of Fenton; his grandparents: Brenda (Russ) Floerchinger of Fenton, Pam Reed of Concord, Ark., Rick Colella of Holland, Mich., Jerry (Linda) Eddings of Heber Springs, Ark., and Mary (Richard) Pirkle of Hillsboro; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for noon Saturday, Aug. 29, at the funeral home, followed by burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
