Jerome Joseph “Jay” Barton Jr., 60, of Imperial died Oct. 29, 2022, at his home. Mr. Barton was a nurse for more than 35 years. He was known as a tough man in many ways, but his greatest gift was his selflessness and caring for his loved ones and any patient that came through the doors. He was the greatest coach to his sons, loved watching his daughter dance, traveling with his family, especially to Disney World, enjoying meals with his family, watching all of his nieces and nephews playing sports. He was born June 23, 1962, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Jerome "Jerry" Joseph Barton Sr. and Mary Agnes Barton.
He is survived by his wife: Michelle Marie (Mahn) Barton of Imperial; three sons: Jerome Joseph “Jerry” Barton III of St. Louis, Nicholas Joseph "Nick" Barton of Imperial and Daniel Joseph (Tori) Barton of Herculaneum; a daughter: Monica Marie Barton of Imperial; four sisters: Janice Simon of Ballwin, Jane (John) Olsen of Ballwin, Julie "Jay" Blossom of Kirkwood and JoAnn "Rick" Bialczak of Des Peres; a brother: James "Jimmy" (Chrissy) Barton of Des Peres; two grandsons: Weston and Riggins; his mother-in-law: Linda Mahn of Imperial; a brother-in-law: Gerald "Jerry" (Shauna) Mahn of Arnold; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law: Robert "Bob" Mahn; and a brother-in-law: Paul Simon Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Drive, in Festus. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St Pius V Catholic Church, 3310 S. Grand Ave., in St. Louis. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis, alongside his parents. Arrangements are under the direction of his sons: Jerry Barton of Leesman Funeral Home and Daniel Barton of Mahn Funeral Home.
