Eugene M. Werges, 76, of Pacific died Nov. 20, 2022. Mr. Werges was proud of his craft as a bricklayer, and was the longest-standing member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1, earning the position of superintendent bricklayer. He was patriotic and a supporter of law enforcement. He enjoyed hunting and was often seen wearing camouflage. His kindness and hard work made him a role model for his family and friends. Born Aug. 4, 1946, he was the son of the late Leona (Sarniguet) and William Werges.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon (Feld) Werges; two children: Lori (Gary) Summers and Michael (Jennifer) Werges; seven grandchildren: Jake, Brennen (Tessa), Zach, Adyson, Taylor, Tess and Michael; three siblings: Jeanine Schuster, Evelyn Bennish and Robert Werges; and many other friends and family members.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 350 E. 4th St., in Eureka, followed by memorial visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Eureka Police Officer Support Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home in Ballwin.
